Our Greenwaste Process
Plateau Compost works with Councils to process their raw greenwaste, and turn it into beneficial material at our composting site in Kawerau.
Transporting to our facility
Once Greenwaste has been filtered, removing plastic, steel, concrete, and other non-greenwaste materials, the Greenwaste is transported to our dedicated composting facility in Kawerau.

We have a trusted relationship with local councils

Hogging & windrows
All Greenwaste is hogged (chopped up into smaller than 50mm pieces), and then mounded into windrows of up to 3m wide.

Temperature testing & turning
As the windrows begin the composting process, temperatures are monitored to ensure optimal composting conditions. These temperatures can reach up to 70°C. The windrows are periodically turned, allowing for aeration and correct moisture levels.
